Whether you're starting out or just fancy a change, training to become a qualified Pool Lifeguard could be the career opportunity you've been waiting for.

GO Gateshead is running a 5-day Royal Life-Saving Society (RLSS) training course that will give you all the knowledge and skills you'll need to confidently start applying for Pool Lifeguard jobs straight away.

What does the training involve?

The course will cover pool rescue techniques, lifeguarding theory, first aid, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and much more.

It will be physically demanding, including swimming to set times, lifting casualties, and diving to the deepest part of our swimming pool.

How is it assessed?

Assessment for the training is across three disciplines; pool lifeguarding, first aid, and workbook exercises. All must be achieved to attain the qualification.

What will the course qualify me for?

Following successful completion of this national qualification will allow you to be considered for Pool Lifeguard roles throughout the UK.

What are the benefits of being a qualified Pool Lifeguard?

As well as mastering essential lifesaving skills, Lifeguards also benefit from varied and flexible working hours. There are also excellent career progression opportunities, with many rising to become senior managers within the leisure sector.
