GO Gateshead is aiming to bring a little sunshine into the lives of its valued customers this summer, with free daily virtual fitness classes and art and crafts tutorials for all.

#ThriveThisSummer is an initiative aimed at supporting local residents in staying fit, healthy and active in body and mind, despite the continuing impact of the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing.

The virtual fitness sessions, lead by your favourite instructors, will be posted to GO Gateshead's Facebook channel each day, and will include a variety of class types, including High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Pilates, Legs, Bums and Tums, Dance Aerobics and more, as well as classes specifically tailored for children and older residents.

It will also feature a number of fun and creative art and crafts tutorials you can enjoy with as a family, or something to help you keep the kids entertained during the holidays.

Angela Douglas, Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Leisure said "Staying active is a great way to maintain physical fitness and positive mental health. We've all had to be creative with how we workout during the ongoing pandemic. Many of us have turned to virtual fitness classes to keep in shape and it's great to see GO Gateshead now posting daily classes to Facebook for everyone to enjoy at home. Also, with each one will featuring varying intensity levels, it means anyone can give them a go, regardless of age or ability".

We invite you to post pictures and videos of you and your family or friends taking part in our classes in the comments section of the posts using #ThriveThisSummer.
