GO Gateshead has lots of great activities just for you new mums and dads, and carers too. Whether you're looking get active for the first time, wanting get back into exercise, or simply want to get out of the house for a couple of hours to chat to other new parents, you'll find we've got something to suit.
Finding the time to exercise with a new baby is tough. But what if your baby was part of the exercise? Buggy Boot Camp lets you shift the baby weight by using your baby as a weight. Hey, it's the least they could do!
Across a one hour session, our instructors take you through a range of exercises. Starting with a warm-up, we'll build the intensity gradually with bursts of cardiovascular and strength training exercises to help you regain posture and improve fitness levels affected by pregnancy and birth.
Active Mums (and Dads) is a fun way to meet new people and get active outdoors with your baby. With babies safe and snug in their pushchairs, you'll be working on improving fitness and toning up by performing a range of enjoyable cardio and bodyweight exercises, overseen by our qualified instructor.
Following familiar routes each week, buggies are kept on the move throughout the class and there are dedicated feeding stops around the park.
Learn to swim, swim with your baby or enjoy some quality alone time in the pool at anyone of six GO Gateshead leisure centres. With five large 25 metre pools, seven smaller pools and diverse timetables that include dedicated times for public swims, lane swimming and adult-only swims, you'll never be short of something to do.
Aquafit classes run weekly, where parents can join others in a fun, high-energy fitness class that doesn't put strain or stress on joints, and we also set aside time for family fun, with rafts and rings thrown in for good measure!
If you'd like to learn to swim or get back into swimming after a break, our adult swimming lessons are suitable for all abilities and overseen by qualified Swim England coaches.
